Midlength surfboards explained
A midlength sits between a shortboard and a longboard, usually around 7ft to 8ft, blending easy paddling and glide with more turn than a log. It is the do-most board for Kiwis who want one stick for waist-high Mount Maunganui days and longer walls at the points.
How they ride
Most run a single fin or a 2+1, so they trim long, drawn-out lines but still come off the tail when you want to turn. Brands here include Modern and Creative Army, priced in NZD.
Midlength or something else?
Pair yours with a leash to match its length and a centre fin from surfboard fins. Deciding between this, a minimal or a longboard? Compare with our minimal and longboards ranges.
