Shortboards for performance surfing
Shortboards are the performance end of the quiver: shorter, thinner and with more rocker for tight, vertical surfing in clean, punchy waves. They reward paddle fitness and wave knowledge, so they suit intermediate to advanced surfers at spots like Piha, Raglan on its day and the beachies around Gisborne.
The range

Fins and setup
Most run a thruster or five-fin setup. Sort fins in surfboard fins and a leash from surfboard leashes. Not ready to drop down? A midlength keeps your wave count high.
