What size bodyboard should I get?
Bodyboards are typically sized by rider height, weight, and the type of riding you want to do. As a simple starting point, when the board is stood upright on the ground it should come to around your lower ribcage to belly button area. If you’re between sizes, a slightly shorter board is easier to control, while a slightly longer board offers more float.
Do I need bodyboard fins?
Fins aren’t essential for casual whitewater, but they make a big difference for real wave riding. Bodyboard fins help you generate speed, catch waves earlier, and maintain control, especially when you’re paddling into unbroken waves. Are swim fins the same as bodyboard fins?
Not always. Swim training fins are designed mainly for pool use and kick training, while bodyboard fins are built for surf conditions (power, comfort, and control in moving water). For regular bodyboarding, purpose-made bodyboard fins are usually the better choice.
What leash should I use for bodyboarding?
A bodyboard leash helps keep your board close and improves safety. Most riders choose either a wrist leash or an arm/bicep leash depending on comfort and conditions. The most important thing is a secure attachment and a leash that feels comfortable over a full session.
